About

...in the Los Angeles area.

I love kids… and I love books…
I have a six year old son who loves books, too,
and a husband who is a talented website designer.

Thus, Kidbooks is born!

Welcome! This web site will be updated regularly with recommendations on books we’ve just read and with information about reading programs, book reading & literacy events in Los Angeles, reading-oriented websites and with anything else I can think of that might encourage, might inspire, might ignite in your child a love for reading.

This copy of “Martin’s Dinosaur” is a
childhood favorite that my mom saved
for me.  And now I’m starting to save
books for my son, like “Jesse Bear, What
Will You Wear”.  When he was 6 months
old, Spencer would devour this one...
you can tell by the teeth marks.

My parents played a vital role in establishing my connection with reading by exposing me to many different kinds of books at a very early age. That love for reading only grew stronger as the years passed and I have my parents to thank for that.  And I hope that you will be able to do the same for your children.

As you view these pages, keep in mind that many of these recommendations come from a 6 year-old boy and his mom, but we think this collection will span a lot of interests and age groups, as well.  Personally, I love every one of these books!

I hope by Fall 2002 to be teaching as a substitute in the LAUSD elementary grades, so who knows? I may be reading some of these books to your kids!

Golden Books reissued lots of my childhood favories.  I used to have a record album of someone with a very soothing voice reading “The Pokey Little Puppy” and “Scuffy the Tugboat”. My mom and I can both still quote from it: “Don’t ever Ever dig holes under this fence!”
